I have created a new blog!

Well. I'm now a blogger. I don't think it gets much more nerdy, not to mention self obsessed. By creating a blog you're admitting that you think people will be interested in what you're doing. Hopefully some of my entries will be more interesting than this guy's. But what it means is that instead of receiving an email you don't want every month or so, you can come to this website when you feel like it, if you're wondering what i'm up to.

So what am i doing this year?

I'm spending the year in the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires, attending the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina. I'm doing this because I'm studying a combined degree - Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts in International Studies at the University of Technology in Sydney. As part of the international studies component of the degree, we learn a language, and spend a year overseas in country that speaks that language. I chose to study Spanish, and chose Argentina over Chile, Mexico, or Spain. The University pays for any costs associated with getting there including the plane ticket, insurance, visas etc. as well as fees for the University. I cover the day to day living costs such as rent and food.

While there I'll take Spanish classes and later, perhaps some regular classes in Spanish, but my assessment will be based on 'cultural reports' which i write in English and send back to my teachers in Australia.

See the university handbook entry here.

I leave February 10, and I'm hoping that this blog will end up as a kind of online diary, with my thoughts from week to week, descriptions of stuff that I've been up to, and some nice pictures and videos too.

Please come back again next time you feel like it.
